Competitive Play

Welcome to SplashAttack's competitive play page.  Here, we discuss the latest trends in Smogon's competitive battling tiers, and Pokémon Showdown.  We have two Showdown veterans, Alltheginjoints and JaydenSilver, who write articles to sate your competitive Pokémon hunger!

We're also planning on putting together a few primers for how to build a competitive team, so if you're new to the metagame, be sure to check those out!

You can also see what's hot in the Battle Spot here!

Getting Started
If you're looking for a good way to ease into the competitive Pokémon battling scene, try your hand at Effort Value (EV) training! You'll see a significant improvement in your Pokémon's battle performance, and here's the best part - it's not that hard once you get the hang of it. If it sounds like your kind of thing, check out this great EV training guide brought to you by J. himself. Your efforts (hehe) won't go to waste!

Keep your eyes peeled for more competitive training articles in the near future!

Alltheginjoints's Articles
The Aurora Pokémon seems a bit underwhelming with its lackluster attacking stats, but it sure is bulky.  In fact, after a couple of Calm Mind boosts, its near-unstoppable.  Find out what Alltheginjoints has to say about this nightmarish legendary Water type!
Looking for a strong special attacker with great natural bulk and utility?  Look no further than Magnezone!  Check out what Alltheginjoints has to say about this funky-looking Steel type.  Do it before you get stuck in the DANGERZONE!

Tyranitar is a great Pokémon with excellent bulk and utility.  With its new Mega evolution, a whole new way of playing Tyranitar is now available.  See what Alltheginjoints has to say about the Tyrant King, Mega Tyranitar!

With the release of the new movie Godzilla (2014), Alltheginjoints has put together a collection of movesets for Godzilla-like Pokémon: Groudon, Tyranitar, and Aggron.  Will you use any of these Kings of Monsters?

JaydenSilver's Articles

Conkeldurr is a strange Fighting-type. It's always been really bulky, but with the generation switch, it just doesn't have the power to sweep entire teams anymore. However, it can certainly influence the game. Looking for something bulky that can take a hit and dish out a lot more? Look no further than Assault Vest Conkeldurr!
